How to Get Involved in the Light the Church Initiative

The Light the Church initiative is more than just a lighting project—it’s a movement to bring communities together

Celebrate faith, and showcase the beauty of local churches through stunning, permanent accent lighting. Whether you’re a church leader, a volunteer, a donor, or a local supporter, there are several ways to get involved and help your church shine.

1. Nominate a Church

Do you know a church that could benefit from being highlighted in your community? Submit a nomination to have that church considered for our lighting program. Nomination is simple and only requires basic information about the church, such as its name, location, and a short description of why it should be featured. Each nomination helps us identify churches that are ready to inspire and uplift their communities with beautiful lighting.

How it works:

  • Fill out the online nomination form with the church’s details.

  • Submit the form and wait for confirmation—we review every submission carefully.

2. Volunteer to Help

Volunteers play a crucial role in bringing the Light the Church initiative to life. From organizing events and helping with setup to spreading the word in your community, your time and energy can make a huge impact. Volunteers may also assist with community outreach, photography, and social media promotion to ensure every church gets the recognition it deserves.

Ways to volunteer:

  • Assist during installation days.

  • Help with local outreach and promotion.

  • Support social media campaigns or create content highlighting the initiative.

3. Become a Sponsor or Donor

Lighting a church is a collaborative effort, and financial support is essential to making it happen. Sponsors and donors help fund the materials, installation, and ongoing maintenance of permanent accent lighting. Contributions can be made on an individual basis or through local businesses, civic organizations, and faith-based groups.

Sponsorship options:

  • Full church sponsorship: Cover the entire cost of lighting installation.

  • Partial sponsorship: Contribute toward a portion of the project.

  • Community fundraising: Organize or participate in fundraising events to support the initiative.

4. Participate in Community Events

Throughout the year, Light the Church hosts special events to celebrate completed projects and raise awareness. These events are a chance to see the lighting in action, meet volunteers and donors, and connect with other community members who are passionate about supporting local churches. Participation also helps spread the word and inspire more communities to get involved.

Event involvement:

  • Attend ribbon-cutting or unveiling ceremonies.

  • Take part in community fundraisers or volunteer appreciation events.

  • Share your experience on social media to encourage others to participate.

5. Spread the Word

Awareness is key to the success of Light the Church. You can help by sharing information about the initiative with your church community, local organizations, and on social media. The more people know about the program, the more churches we can help light up and the greater the impact we can create together.

Ways to share:

  • Post about the initiative on your personal or church social media accounts.

  • Invite friends, family, and community members to nominate churches.

  • Include information about Light the Church in church bulletins, newsletters, or local community boards.
